Description
Mid-late 90s Mitsubishi cars had some fairly advanced computers for their time, but as they get older, things start to act up, and you might get the occasional error light pop up on the dash. Despite having an OBD shaped port under the dash, modern OBD-II readers don’t work with the Mitsubishi ECUs, which used their own proprietary communication protocol & tools.
However, all is not lost, as they can still output a comprehensive set of error codes – by simply flashing out codes via the error lights!
This is pretty simple, and well documented at https://www.clubvr4.com/flashydash for the Legnum/Galant VR-4 – you need nothing more than to bridge two wires together.
But, scrabbling around under the dash inserting wires into pins isn’t easy – so we’ve put together this simple unit which you can keep plugged into your diagnostic port, and if you need to read error codes for any reason, simply flick the switch, turn on the ignition, and get your fault codes.
Whilst not tested on vehicles other than the Legnum/Galant VR-4, if the steps shown in the above link gives you flashing lights on your dash, then this will work for your vehicle.
Does it work on another Mitsubishi? Please let us know and we’ll update a list of known working vehicles!
