Introduction

If you’ve upgraded to a compatible ECU using our 6A1 Interface for Link ECU – Mitsubishi Legnum / Galant VR-4, you might want to consider changing your current throttle body for an Electronic Throttle.

There are many reasons why you might wish to do this:

  • Cruise Control
  • Anti-Lag
  • Limit power for “valet mode”
  • Change the throttle “feel”

This kit will allow you to re-use the existing Throttle Position Sensor and Idle Air Control Valve wiring from your old cable-driven throttle to connect your new E-Throttle body, quickly and easily.

Once installed, the only other changes you’ll need to make are to adjust some switches on the ECU adapter board into the “E-Throttle” position and configure E-Throttle in the ECU configuration.

As a bonus, you also get one extra digital and one extra analog 0-5V sensor input to use as you please, pre-wired to some high quality Deutsch connectors.

Customisations

By default, the settings are for cars with the factory throttle body location on the right side of the intake plenum. If you’ve gone single turbo, you’ll likely want to extend these.

The default configuration also comes with a 6 way Deutsch connector. If desired, we can also include pre-wire this with a Subaru (Impreza, Legacy etc) Electronic Throttle connector to just plug straight in.

You can also customise the length of the loom with the additional digital and analog 0-5V sensor inputs.

Wire Length

The wiring is grouped into 2 sections:

  • Electronic Throttle Wire: The 6 core wiring loom for the Electronic Throttle Body
  • Spare Sensor Wire: The spare digital and analog 0-5V inputs freed up from the conversion

These Wiring Groups cable lengths can be adjusted individually. All wire lengths are 50 CM by default (which is fine for the factory throttle body location), adding any extra wire to that group above adds to this 50 CM initial length.

So if you add an extra 50 CM to a wiring group, the wire length will be 100 CM. The 50 CM defaults are adequate for most cars where the throttle body hasn’t been moved.

If you have relocated your throttle body (for a single turbo conversion for example), or if you want to use another sensor in a different location, you will need to measure this and update the quantity of wire accordingly.

Recommended lengths:

  • For factory throttle location that wiring group can remain default (50 CM in total)
  • For inverted throttle location (throttle body on the other side of the intake plenum) add another 100 CM (giving 150 CM in total)
