Introduction
If you’ve upgraded to a compatible ECU using our 6A1 Interface for Link ECU – Mitsubishi Legnum / Galant VR-4, you might want to consider changing your current throttle body for an Electronic Throttle.
There are many reasons why you might wish to do this:
- Cruise Control
- True lift-off Anti-Lag
- Limit the throttle for “valet mode” or lending the car out
- Change the throttle “feel” – smooth out response or sharpen it up
This kit will allow you to re-use the existing Throttle Position Sensor and Idle Air Control Valve wiring from your old cable-driven throttle to connect your new E-Throttle body, quickly, easily and without cutting or splicing any wires.
Once installed, the only other changes you’ll need to make are to adjust some switches on the ECU adapter board into the “E-Throttle” position and configure E-Throttle in the ECU configuration.
As a bonus, you get a 4 way Deutsch DTM male plug (including a matching female connector and pins) with the following broken out:
- Sensor 5V and Ground
- One digital input (DI 7)
- Either one of the below (selected by a switch on the adapter board):
- Either an 5V analog input (AnV 9)
- Or an aux output (Aux 8)
There are also 2x factory throttle position sensor plugs for automatic vehicles and those with traction control.
This kit has been designed for use with the following Subaru components. These are all sold separately.
- Subaru Electronic Throttle Bodies (part numbers 16112AA170 or 16112AA210)
- Subaru Accelerator Pedal (part number 36010AG110)
The kit will by default come with connectors for the above, but if desired, we can omit these as either flying leads or install 6 way DTM plugs and provide the mating half / pins. See customisations below.
Also included is a pedal bracket adapter to support bolting the Subaru Accelerator Pedal to the factory pedal location.
Customisations
Cable length
By default, the settings are for cars with the factory throttle body location on the right side of the intake plenum. 20 CM total length.
If you’ve gone single turbo and your throttle body is now on the other side of the engine you’ll likely want to extend these. This will extend just the motor connector +120 CM (taking it up to 140 CM total) to then snake down and follow the injector harness down across the engine and then back up the other side with a bit of slack to spare.
Connectors
Additionally the default configuration also comes with Subaru connectors on the end, but we can replace these with 6 way Deutsch connectors or even just provide flying leads for the motor.
You can also specify which connector you want on the pedal side.
